You might have to look twice at architect and designer Eren Talu’s holiday resort overlooking Türkbükü Bay in order to shake the feeling that it’s nothing more than a white shimmering mirage.
Eight buildings, in a shade of white that is quite blinding under the hot Turkish sun, cascade down a hillside overlooking the bay near the Turkish resort town of Bodrum. The buildings, which have been described as “eight giant steps toward heaven”, are home to 48 separate residences. The clean, geometric lines and uniformity in the Turkish designer and architect’s concept offer a sharp contrast to the natural elements of the rolling hillside on which it sits. His use of the colour white throughout, which represents cleanliness and pureness, acts as a kind of backdrop against which each guest can add their own tone or personality to the design. The layout, which includes a pool for each building, assures the guest’s privacy while at the same time creating a loose sense of community: Everyone is given the freedom of choosing to share time with others or simply revelling in the pleasure of having time to themselves.
Furthering this experience, some rooms feature their own kitchens, fitted with state-of-the-art equipment by the renowned manufacturers Euromobil and Smeg. Talu has taken the white motif through every room, aiming to provide a feeling of lush serenity as well as being a cool sanctuary from the hot sun outside. Terry cloth linens and curtains provide a feeling of soft comfort and well-positioned mirrors give the impression of endless space. Brightly coloured pieces of furniture seemingly scattered at whim throughout each space and carefully chosen mood lighting are the only vivid accents – apart from those you provide yourself, of course. |

Bodrum-Türkbükü
Antik Karya bölgesinde bulunan belde geniş mandalin bahçeleri, zengin balık çeşitleri ile yarımada’nın şirin bölgesi. Türkbükü eski adıyla antik Likya Madnasa şehri olarak anılıyor. Bölgenin yukarı tepelerinde hala o zamanki medeniyetin izlerine yer yer rastlanabiliyor. Yıkıntılar arasında mezarlık alanları, sarnıçlar, kuleler ve eskiden kalma yıkık dökük tarihi ev kalıntıları hemen dikkati çekiyor. Etrafında gezilebilecek bir çok yeri bulunan Türkbükü, günümüzde lüks yazlık evler ve butik otelleri ile sosyetenin en uğrak yeri durumunda.
